Ernest Shackleton's ship Endurance found beneath Antarctic ice after more than a century
The wreckage of a ship captained by sir Ernest Shackleton has finally been discovered in the Antarctic, Endurance hasn't been seen since it was crushed by ice in 1915, and the first images of the wreckage are pretty impressive.
The Endurance 22 expedition's one goal was to find the wreck and exactly 100 years to the day since Shackleton was buried that's just what they did :
"When the expedition discovered it it was like a miracle. we could not believe the state's ship"
This is what a wooden ship sitting three k's below the surface for 107 years looks like
"I think it looks much as it did that day when Shackleton saw it sink"

the ship's in such good condition because basically, it's too cold for any wood-eating microorganisms or fish to live there.
finding it was very tricky though Shackleton's team did take note of the ship's location hoping it would be found one day. But the wreck wasn't actually there it was about six and a half k's further south which took a little while to work out.
"We didn't touch it, we didn't interfere with it it's a survey mission. Who knows in decades' time they may have the technology to reach down raise it up and preserve it somewhere for all of humankind".
